How to Set Up a Keyboard Overlay in Streamlabs Desktop

A keyboard overlay shows your key presses on stream, letting viewers see exactly what inputs you're making in real-time. 1Install the Keyboard Overlay App

Open Streamlabs Desktop and navigate to the App Store in the left sidebar. Search for "Keyboard Overlay" and click Install. Alternatively, you can click this link to install directly.

The app is available for free for all Streamlabs Desktop users, with a few features available for Streamlabs Ultra subscribers.

2Add the Keyboard Overlay to Your Scene

Once installed, add the overlay to your streaming scene:

  1. In your scene, click the + button in Sources
  2. Select the Apps tab at the top
  3. Select Keyboard Overlay
  4. Click Add Source

The keyboard overlay source is now added in your scene. Now open the properties to select a template.

3Keyboard Layout Settings

First, open the App Settings by double clicking or right-clicking on the Keyboard Overlay source in your sources panel. Navigating to the Inventory page will show your saved keyboard layouts and a canvas to adjust the selected/active keyboard layout. You can click each key to assign a new hotkey, change the key size, and adjust the key height.
